Mid-year Festival

In Vietnam, the Mid-year Festival was “Vietnameseized” into the day of killing the bugs and ancestor worship. The Vietnamese also called Mid-year Festival as “The Killing bugs Festival ” because during the transition period of seasons, epidemic diseases are easy to arise. On this day, there are many customary folk practices to prevent disease. This is the Lunar New Year to eliminate bad luck, bring luck to the family in the year.
